Slender: The Eight Pages
Slender: the Eight Pages is the original game in the Slender man series of games and movies. Created by Parsec Productions, and Indie company, in 2012, the game is a first-person survival style, with the character only equipped with a flashlight and the ability to sprint for a short duration. The goal of the game is to collect eight notebook pages before being caught by the Slender man, a character design originated from a Creepypasta creation.
The game has long been known as one of the founders of the modern style of horror games, created after a shift to more action and shooter based “blockbuster” games, such as the Resident Evil series. The game employs simple but spooky graphics and tense music to create its unique atmosphere. Dan Whitehead, a writer for gaming magazine Eurogamer, claims Slender is the “Blair Witch” of video games, opening the door for unique independent creators in the gaming industry.
