The Beatles 3D Yellow Submarine

The Beatles. Arguably, one of the greatest bands to make their way into the music scene of the 1960’s. The original animated Yellow Submarine which was released in 1968, was at the time, a very innovative depiction of the psychedelic adventures that The Beatles songs take listeners through. 

Here I am introducing the unseen, unreleased Yellow Submarine remake from 2009. The film was planned to be a computer animated remake featuring the four members of the group, John Lennon, Ringo Star, Paul McCartny, and George Harrison. The director of the film, Robert Zemeckis planned on incorporation of at least 16 of the classic Beatles songs taking viewers on an adventure through time and space with 3D animated images and graphics. 

Although the film was scheduled to be released before the 2012 London Olympics, the distributor, The Walt Disney Company, took a hard hit in 2010 when the film ‘Simon Wells’ Mars Needs Moms’ had a disastrous opening weekend. They decided to cancel all production of the Yellow Submarine film and abandon the project completely.
