Petroglyphs at Cagüana

850

These petroglyphs carvings are depictions of Taino deities that were found at an archaeological site located at ceremonial plaza in Cagüana in Utuado, Puerto Rico. With the symbols carved on the stone, they act as cemíes, objects that hold spirits.

**The artwork is a rock painting created by the Taino, indigenous people of Puerto Rico, sometime between 5000 BC to 1700 AD, but I can not specify that year in the text entry.
