"Part of architect Ulrich Franzen's ambitious expansion project for N.Y.C.'s Hunter College, completed in 1984, was a subway entrance on the SE corner of 68th Street and Lexington Avenue, which had been among the most deteriorated in the transit system....Bobbie's typographic preference has usually been limited to Helvetica. But the typeface she used at Hunter College was not Helvetica. Bobbie remembers that '[Franzen] didn't want Helvetica. He wanted something more jazzy," and thus she produced the signs seen now....
